How to Train Your Dragon

one movie a day
How to Train Your Dragon
why I loved it !
Because it's just a fun ride and because it has a heart. The cast does a great job at giving voices to those characters more lifelike than ever. Animation wise it's gorgeous, and some scenes are just unforgettable.

Ballet shoes by Sandra Goldbacher

One movie a day

Ballet shoes by Sandra Goldbacher

Three orphans, Pauline, Petrova and Posy were adopted by an eccentric explorer and his niece Sylvia. But he disappeared while traveling. Despite this absence, the three girls try to achieve their dreams: been actress, aviator and ballerina.

A nice TV movie without pretension

Based on the novel of Noel Streatfeild, this is a nice teen movie. There is nothing to complain about for a film in this category. He is also well rooted in the 30s, with an improbable story and good actors. We can already see the talent of Emma Watson. For rainy Sundays.

Schindler's List by Steven Spielberg

One movie a day

Schindler's List by Steven Spielberg

Oskar Schindler is a German industrial, member of the Nazi party. Thinking first of his own advantage, he employed Jewish cheap labor in his factory. But after the liquidation of the Krakov ghetto by a SS commander, he understood the horror and the madness of the Nazi. Then, with his accountant, he tries to save as many lives as possible and even sabotages his own merchandise so it can't do harm

When horror reveals our humanity

A great movie again, masterfully directed by Steven Spielberg. It is based on the novel by Thomas Keneally and tells the true story of Oskar Schilnder and his factory. It widely deserves its good appreciation of the critical. It stages brilliant actors also. A story said that Ralph Fiennes in costume has scared a survivor of the factory ! The play of colors serves the atmosphere well, especially with the short and striking appearances of the "girl in red". A war movie a little different, very touching, and telling an event that realize it is maybe in the worst situation that we reveal our best.

Whatever Works

one movie a day

Whatever Works

why I loved it !

Not one of the best Allen's movie but a truly great film nevertheless. Larry David and Evan Rachel Wood have a great chemistry on screen and the result is here : an easy viewing experience and a smart comedy film about how to find this balance between happiness and misery. Whatever Works !

Sucker Punch & Tron

one movie a day (more like two)

Sucker Punch
Tron

why I loved them and why you get two of them !

Well to make up for me missing out yesterday I give you two weird movies, the first one about a teenager whose mom and sister died in a very nasty environment imprisoned in a devious asylum and the second one about a man Jeff Bridges himself who enters the cyber universe of Tron in a movie that is cult for many people to this day and for many generations to come.

Song for Marion / Unfinished Song by Paul Andrew Williams

One movie a day

Song for Marion / Unfinished Song by Paul Andrew Williams

Arthur and Marion are a retired couple. Marion is very positive while Arthur is angry but despite their dissimilar characters, they are deeply united. Arthur don't understand enthusiasm of his wife to sing in a choir, but she is seriously ill....

Let's talk about you and me

This movie may seem maudlin, but Song for Marion is further proof of that English talent to mix comedy and genuine feelings. It is not free from clichés, and is probably surfing the wave of featured elderly actors, but it is still a pure pleasure to watch. The star is not which we believe and all our wishes accompanies the hero who brightens and learns that even old, it is still time to change.
