The Bridges of Madison County by Clint Eastwood

One movie a day

The Bridges of Madison County by Clint Eastwood

Francesca has a quiet life. One day of the summer 1965, her husband and her children are gone leaving her alone. An unknow photographer asks her help. She guides him through the bridges he has to photograph for the National Geographic. An intense relationship begins between them....

A classic

This is a beautiful love story adapted from the novel by Robert James Waller. A classic of Eastwood with an impressive actor acting of Eastwood himself and Meryl Streep whose tandem carries alone the film. It is timeless and contains the significant but painful debate of love which degrades with time. Francesca lives for his family, but she is not happy. During only four days, she will live an intense love, will experience pure happiness but for which she will feel guilty all her life.

Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events

one movie a day

Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events

why I loved it !

Because that's a movie I'll go to whenever I feel down. Because it has a wonderful original soundtrack by Thomas Newman. Because it has a very dark tone packed with a very good sense of humor. Because of the great Jim Carrey and my celebrity crush Emily Browning. And finally because it's just a silly intelligent story for all of the ages that you'll enjoy to discover.

Wall-E by Andrew Stanton

One movie a day

In the XIInd century, the Earth is invaded by so much waste that humanity is forced to seek refuge in space. In an attempt to make it liveable again, many Wall-E's are sent for clearing everything. 700 years later, only one of these robots remains and men are still not come back.

Humanity's last hope is a robot !

Wall-E is a wonderful animated movie. Very nice, very neat, with fabulous music. It is a real crush for me. It has also a beautiful message which, while being very serious, is nothing preachy. It will bring everyone together thanks to the empathy we feel towards the main character. Another masterpiece from Pixar.

U-571

U-571

why I loved it !

U-571 plays with the nerves of his crew and at the same time of the spectator. The use of great sound effects and a great cast serves the film perfectly. With a good home cinema you'll feel like you're on board in the middle of a mine field exploding around the not so tough Uboat. A great piece of cinema and a movie to watch with a 5.1 surround system to get all the experience out of it.

The Host by Andrew Niccol

One movie a day

The Host by Andrew Niccol

Melanie is part of the resistance consists of the last humans still masters of their bodies. But one night, she gets caught. The aliens will implement the soul of Wanderer in her, but she won't give up and continue the fight to find her loved ones.

Ranges from very good idea and teenage movie

I greatly enjoy this movie. The actors are good and the story is rather faithfully reproduced even if it suffers from too short format. The idea is quite original. Forget the monstruous aliens that destroy everything in the way. The perfect and sanitized world that these have built may be worse.

The Host is adapted from the novel by Stephenie Meyer. I read it in French (my native language) and liked it much because of its more mature side. Here, perhaps to please the audience of the Twilight Saga, the film loses this side and leans toward the silliness (especially with a relative rejuvenation of the characters compared to what I imagined). Nevertheless, taken as it is, it's a nice movie that will appeal to anyone with a tender heart.

Fast Five

one movie a day

Fast Five

why I loved it !

The Fast and the Furious franchise does not deal with character and relationships and this episode does just what it's supposed to be. An over the top action film with lots of explosions and an unbelievable story filled with cars, girls, muscles and impossible stunts. Let's face it; it's just a guy movie. But to be fair it's very well paced and you'll be entertained and this is what it's all about.
