The Host by Andrew Niccol

One movie a day

The Host by Andrew Niccol

Melanie is part of the resistance consists of the last humans still masters of their bodies. But one night, she gets caught. The aliens will implement the soul of Wanderer in her, but she won't give up and continue the fight to find her loved ones.

Ranges from very good idea and teenage movie

I greatly enjoy this movie. The actors are good and the story is rather faithfully reproduced even if it suffers from too short format. The idea is quite original. Forget the monstruous aliens that destroy everything in the way. The perfect and sanitized world that these have built may be worse.

The Host is adapted from the novel by Stephenie Meyer. I read it in French (my native language) and liked it much because of its more mature side. Here, perhaps to please the audience of the Twilight Saga, the film loses this side and leans toward the silliness (especially with a relative rejuvenation of the characters compared to what I imagined). Nevertheless, taken as it is, it's a nice movie that will appeal to anyone with a tender heart.
