The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford |
why I loved it !
I've seen plenty of westerns and this one sets itself apart from the lot by focusing on his characters and their strange relationships with each others. Robert Ford played by Casey Affleck wants to follow the trail of the great bandit Jesse James (Brad Pitt). He is an awkward guy that doesn't fit at all in this world of outlaws and this is where the heart of the movie is : Robert Ford is not looking to become a gangster he only wants the fame. Fame that without spoiling anything comes with a price.
The brilliant cinematography (usage of time lapses and blur effect) combined with the ubiquitous music from Nick Cave and Warren Ellis gives to the motion picture this ancient atmosphere as well as a sensation that time is fleeing by slower than it should.
